Agelink, part of THEATRE 180 Inc
AFTER 25 YEARS OF SUCCESSFULLY TELLING WA STORIES ON OUR STAGES, AGELINK IS GROWING AND BROADENING – WE HAVE EVOLVED INTO THEATRE 180.
As we move forward in 2019, AGELINK will still exist, as a component of THEATRE 180, and it will still follow the same path of creating intergenerational shows for and about West Australian seniors and the community generally, making arts projects with people with dementia and creating plays based on local history.
THEATRE 180 represents a 180 degree perspective taking us through all ages of life – from youth to seniors and everything inbetween. THEATRE 180 recognises the value that the arts plays in our society in nurturing, inspiring and challenging its citizens across all ages of our lives.
THEATRE 180 aims to present more main stage productions and to work with schools. The focus of the company will still be about West Australians – topics to interest today’s audiences, West Australian stories, West Australian performers and creative personnel.
AGELINK, a pillar of THEATRE 180, is dedicated to:
- affirming the value of our seniors; their wisdom, their experience, their body of knowledge and their contribution to our society.
- bringing the generations together so that these stories can enrich the knowledge of the young.
- producing theatre that inspires, entertains and informs.
- engaging with communities through a creative process aimed at elevating mood, combating depression, passing on new skills and increasing mental alertness.
We produce shows based on seniors’ memories garnered in interviews and reminiscence workshops; shows filled with stories, music, song and laughter; shows performed in theatres and heritage venues, but also shows that can travel into the community and be performed anywhere including libraries, schools, senior centres – even in the corner of a room.
For our specialised interactive and musical performances for audiences with dementia, we travel to residential or day care facilities with our “reminiscence box”.
