Coming Home

On Feb 13 1916, an army of volunteer builders and labourers gathered in Kalgoorlie St, in the new suburb of Mount Hawthorn. Their mission? To build in one day a very fine brick and tile cottage from donated materials as the first community memorial in Western Australia to the Gallipoli landings. The local council gifted the cottage to the first returned wounded serviceman from that conflict, John Porter, and his young family.

100 years later, on February 13th 2016, Agelink celebrates the event with a free performance at Braithwaite Park, Mt Hawthorn, of COMING HOME by Jenny Davis.

Starring Alinta Carroll, Renee Chapple, Rebecca Davis, Stuart Halusz, Oliver Haluszkiewicz, Saskia Haluszkiewicz, Craig Skelton and Zac Skelton, COMING HOME tells the story of the cottage and its occupants.

Bring a rug and a picnic and enjoy also the music of the Mount Hawthorn Primary school choir and be thoroughly entertained by the evening’s wonderful guest artist – JAMES BLUNDELL!

6.30-9.30 pm Braithwaite Park, Scarborough Beach Rd, Mount Hawthorn
